SAVE THE DATE! Our annual Veteran's Day ArtsCrawl will be November 10th, 2017. School will be closed, but we'll be having fun anyway with our annual ArtsConnect art excursion. This year, we'll be stopping at Dia:Beacon and (tentatively) Hudson Valley Center for Contemporary Art and the Hessel Museum at Bard College. Due to popular demand, this year we're going to invite parents to tag along!

ArtsConnect’s mission is to give the student the opportunity to experience various types of art in atypical ways (i.e. sleeping in a museum, creating art after a tour of the museum, thoughtful discussion, etc.) in order to enhance their opportunities to understand themselves and others. It is an after-school or weekend program for middle school students who live in the Rhinebeck Central School District. The ArtsConnect program began in 2010.

  • Art gives us the opportunity to learn about ourselves; our feelings, our ideas of what is beautiful, and how we see our values and beliefs reflected through various types of art.
  • Art allows us to learn about other people and cultures; the values and beliefs that shape the artist's vision, and their ideas of what is beautiful.
  • Thoughtful thinking about feelings, perception, values and belief systems allows students to "interact with their local and global community with intelligence, cultural competence, ethics, compassion, and generosity.”
